DSD and Van Sales for Retail & Consumer Goods Industry
Project type
Retail and Consumer Goods
Date
December 2023
Location
Salesforce India, Bangalore
This UX project focused on developing Salesforce's Direct Store Delivery (DSD) and Van Sales product tailored for the Indian market. Recognizing the significance of DSD – a distribution method where manufacturers directly deliver to retail stores, bypassing central warehouses and often managing shelf stocking, merchandising, and inventory – the project aimed to leverage its benefits of increased freshness, improved inventory control, enhanced merchandising, and reduced handling for fast-moving consumer goods. The initiative began with comprehensive on-site research, including drive-along activities and contextual inquiries with Salesforce customers in India. This research phase was crucial in understanding the nuances of their existing processes and identifying key opportunities within the product ecosystem. The outcome of this research was a detailed documentation of current practices, identification of key opportunities for improvement, and the foundation for the first version of Salesforce's DSD and Van Sales product. This initial version specifically addressed critical scenarios encountered by van drivers and sales personnel in India, including efficient start-of-day activities, seamless product movement to dealers, and a streamlined method for capturing orders and generating bills on the go. The positive reception of this initial product by Salesforce customers in India underscores the project's success in addressing their specific needs and laying the groundwork for a valuable DSD and Van Sales solution within the Salesforce ecosystem.
