My vision was to empower individuals with a personal digital wallet, a secure space to store and share their authorized documents. The core principle driving this design was 'Once Only' – the idea of providing essential information just once, eliminating the tedious and error-prone manual effort of repeatedly submitting the same documents. I envisioned this not just as a digital convenience, but as a foundational element for a larger transformation: the creation of a virtual digital village.
We explored multiple scenarios where digitizing processes and having all necessary documents readily available in a digital format could fundamentally simplify and ease everyday living for citizens. Imagine a world where accessing services, proving identity, or completing transactions becomes seamless and instant, all thanks to readily available and verified digital credentials.
The 'Citizen Wallet' concept I designed aimed to make this a reality. It wasn't just about storage; it was about enabling citizens to create, securely store, and conduct digital transactions with their authorized documents. This had the potential to revolutionize how people interact with government services, businesses, and each other.
As the UX Designer for this initiative, I was involved in the creation of five key applications that would contribute to this ecosystem. The culmination of this work was the development of a Proof of Concept, which I had the privilege of presenting to stakeholders at various tech events. These presentations were crucial in showcasing the transformative impact of a citizen-centric digital wallet and its potential to pave the way for a simpler, more efficient, and ultimately better way of life within a connected digital society, especially within the context of building a virtual digital village in Europe.
